Se llama Dalton y tiene diez a\u00f1os pero ya despunta como uno de nuestros l\u00edderes del futuro. Se distingue por sus capacidades en la oratoria y un m\u00e1gico carisma. En septiembre, antes de iniciarse las clases, ofreci\u00f3 el siguiente mensaje a un grupo de 20,000 educadores en Dallas:<\/p>\n

I believe in me. Do you believe in me?<\/p>\n

Do you believe I can stand up here, fearless, and talk to all 20,000 of you?<\/p>\n

Hey, Charles Rice Learning Center \u2013 do you believe in me?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right \u2013 they do.<\/p>\n

Because here\u2019s the deal: I can do anything, be anything, create anything, dream anything, become anything \u2013 because you believe in me. And it rubs off on me.<\/p>\n

Let me ask you a question, Dallas ISD.<\/p>\n

Do you believe in my classmates?<\/p>\n

Do you believe that every single one of us can graduate ready for college or the workplace?<\/p>\n

You better. Because next week, we\u2019re all showing up in your schools \u2013 all 157,000 of us \u2013 and what we need from you is to believe that we can reach our highest potential.<\/p>\n

No matter where we come from, whether it\u2019s sunny South Dallas, whether its Pleasant Grove, whether its Oak Cliff or North Dallas or West Dallas or wherever, you better not give up on us. No, you better not.<\/p>\n

Because, as you know, in some cases, you\u2019re all we\u2019ve got. You\u2019re the ones who feed us, who wipe our tears, who hold our hands or hug us when we need it. You\u2019re the ones who love us when sometimes it feels like no else does \u2013 and when we need it the most.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t give up on my classmates.<\/p>\n

Do you believe in your colleagues?<\/p>\n

I hope so. They came to your school because they wanted to make a difference, too. Believe in them, trust them and lean on them when times get tough \u2013 and we all know, we kids can sometimes make it tough.<\/p>\n

Am I right?<\/p>\n

Can I get an Amen?<\/p>\n

So, whether you\u2019re a counselor or a librarian, a teacher assistant or work in the front office, whether you serve up meals in the cafeteria or keep the halls clean, or whether you\u2019re a teacher or a principal, we need you!<\/p>\n

Please, believe in your colleagues, and they\u2019ll believe in you.<\/p>\n

Do you believe in yourself? Do you believe that what you\u2019re doing is shaping not just my generation, but that of my children \u2013 and my children\u2019s children?<\/p>\n

There\u2019s probably easier ways to make a living, but I want to tell you, on behalf of all of the students in Dallas, we need you. We need you now more than ever.<\/p>\n

Believe in yourself.<\/p>\n

Finally, do you believe that every child in Dallas needs to be ready for college or the workplace? Do you believe that Dallas students can achieve?<\/p>\n

We need you, ladies and gentlemen. We need you to know that what you are doing is the most important job in the city today. We need you to believe in us, in your colleagues, in yourselves and in our goals.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t believe \u2013 well, I\u2019m not going there.<\/p>\n

I want to thank you for what you do \u2013 for me and for so many others.<\/p>\n

Do you believe in me? Because I believe in me. And you helped me get to where I am today.<\/p>\n
